Please read the story first, to understand the essence of the Shani's trouble and our approach towards it.
Once King Dasaratha (Father of Lord Rama) was conducting his court with all his ministers, artists, astrologers, pandits and the public. The astrologers had forewarned the King about the impending drought like situation, which could affect the whole country.
The astrologers had predicted the impending exit of Shani from the Kiruthigai star and the entry into the Rohini star. This could lead to the cascading effect of the Shani on the peoples. The King Dasaratha was furious on hearing this information. Hence he decided to ask or stop the Shani on a forceful manner from his impending entry into Rohini nakshatra.
He took all his divine weapons and ordered his chariot to be driven towards the Shani. The news reached the Lord Shani too. The Lord Shani was so excited about hearing the plan of King Dasaratha. The Lord Shani wondered by opening up his eyes would burn everything, then how come King was so foolish to attempt such a misadventure.
So the Lord Shani ordered his chariot to be driven towards the King Dasaratha. When two of them met each other, the Dasaratha asked the Lord Shani to drop his plan. Since the King Dasaratha did not ask anything for himself and asked for the welfare of the people, the Lord Shani was so pleased about the King's request. The Lord Shani readily accepted the King's request and promised not to trouble his country or the people.
Then the Lord Shani gave two wishes to the King Dasaratha. The King had asked two wishes to be fulfilled.
1. Which will make the Shani more happier?
2. What is the best method of doing Pariharam for the Shani?
Thus the Lord Shani replied:
1. Lord Shani offered slokas. If any one prays the Shani on every saturdays by chanting these slokas, the Shani assured the King that he will not trouble them during the Shani Mahadasa/Antardasa/Sade Sati periods.
2. The Lord Shani told the King that he gives troubles to the peoples only to correct their character, behavior and their style of functioning. "If the people lives according to the way that is considered legally and morally correct, they will not be affected" the Shani assures the King.
Conclusion:
1. The Best Pariharam for the Shani is all about living in a truthful manner. If a person lives within the purview of what is morally and legally correct, then the Shani will not trouble the person.
2. By offering flowers, pujas, homams, lighting lamps, offering anna dhanam and chanting slokas along with criminal, sexual, selfish and deceitful thoughts and acts would bring no relief to the concerned person.
3. People with ulterior motives and indulging in unlawful and immoral activities would actually go down in their life by doing Puja, homam and wearing gem stones.
4. People who live in a perfect manner need not even have to pray to God or do pariharam for the Shani.
