HOW TO DO PUJAS IN THE TEMPLE?

Pariharam: The Truth about the Coconut:

Coconut is mainly used in the Pujas, homams and also on in every important Hindu rituals. Let us understand, the importance of using the coconut in the pujas and also in the rituals; and let us delete our misunderstandings and mis-beliefs.

1. Breaking of a coconut either in a Puja or while doing Pariharam removes the Dhiristi (evil eye syndrome).

2. It is always better to do the Puja by breaking the coconut before the God, as this will automatically remove the Dhiristi.

3. Never do a Puja or Archana to any God without buying/offering/breaking the Coconut. You must do a Puja or archana by offering coconut, fruits, flowers, betel leaves & betel nuts, camphor and incense sticks, which are the basic & minimum you can offer.

4. You must try your best to select a good coconut, while buying it from the shop. You must shake the coconut well and must buy the coconut that has plenty of water into it. You must knock the shell of the coconut with your finger; and must the buy the coconut that has a solid shell around it.

5. When you do a Puja before the God, you must spell the name of every family members along with their Birth Star (Nakshatra) and Moon Sign (Rasi). You should not allow the Priests (Archakas) to rush through the names or must not allow them to partially spell the names/details or should not allow them to aggregate all the family members name into a single word/phrase.

6. Puja's should be done to the God in the name of any individual or groups. Do not do any Pujas in the name of the God @ Puja's can't be done to the God in the name of the God.

7. If the coconut is found to be decayed or rotten, then the coconut would be returned to you by the Archakas. Do not panic or worry about the coconut getting rejected or think of a bad omen. Return the coconut to the seller. Get a new coconut and hand over the new coconut to the archakas and continue the Pujas. Facing a problem with the coconut actually indicates the excessive problems with the dhiristi (evil eye syndrome). By continuing to do the Puja with a new coconut actually relives your dhiriti.

8. After completing the Pujas, the archakas will return back your coconut and fruits along with Prasadams (holy ash & vermillion) and flowers that adorned the God. You must not leave any of those mentioned here in the temple itself. You must bring back everything to the house. You must eat all the fruits and the coconut (coconut can also be used in the cooking).

9. You can keep the prasadam in the Puja room and use it on  daily basis. Otherwise the holy ash or vermillion can be placed in a piece of cloth (preferably cotton cloth dyed and dried with turmeric powder) and kept in every corner of the house/cup boards/almirah, which will keep away all the Dhiristi (evil eye syndrome). You should not hand over the coconut or fruits to anyone incuding archakas @ it amounts to bartering your benefits to someone on voluntary basis.

10. You can hang on or place the flowers or garlands (that had adorned the God; and given to you by the archakas after the completion of the Pujas) in the front/main gate on the main entrance of your house. This is a very good remedy as it will safeguard your house from any bad dhirti or bad omen. But you must remove the flowers or garlands after it got dried up; and these dried flowers or garlands must be safely removed to the trash @ you should not throw it on the foot path or anywhere in a careless manner.

11. Doing these simple Pujas on a weekly basis will eliminate the possible troubles and reduce the intensity of the troubles.

DHIRISTI PARIHARAM: PUJAS IN THE LORD SHIVA TEMPLES

METHODS TO BE ADOPTED FOR REMOVING DHIRISTI IN THE SHIVA TEMPLES:

1. Select the Day that comes with Ashtami thithi. The Ashtama thiti comes on the 8th day from the Amavasya days (Full Moon day) or the Poorima days (New Moon day).

The Best day for Pariharam would be the Ashtmai Thithi coming in the descending period of Moon, which is called as the Descending Ashtami Thithi (8th Day from the Poornima Day). But even the Ascending Ashtama Thithi is also considered as best.

2. Ask all your family members to assemble in the Main Hall and stand in the direction of the East.

3. Take a Coconut and Red chillies (Long) along with required quantity of Gingelly oil or Coconut oil and go to every room of your house and just rotate it three times in the clock-wise direction and three times in the anti-clock wise direction.

4. Come to the Main hall, now rotate the Coconut & Long Red Chillies along the oil both three time in the clock-wise and also in the anti-clock wise direction and ask all the family members to go into any of the rooms without looking back at you. The family members must wash their feets, hands and their face, before they sit within their house.

5. Now you must stand before the main door of the house and rotate it three times in the clock-wise direction and three times in the anti-clock wise direction.

5. You must do it for you also. Then you must take the Coconut and Long Red Chillies along with the Oil to any nearby Lord Shiva temple. The important condition is that the Coconut, Red Long Chillies and the Oil should not be placed in the ground or inside a vehicle, while you travel. You must carry it all along by yourself either in your hand or in a bag.

6. After entering the temple, you must cut open the Coconut into 2 halves. Drain out the coconut water from the Coconut and dry it out. You must apply turmeric powder on the outer portion of the Coconut.. Allow it for dry sometime.

7. Then, you must pour Gingelly oil (sesame oil) or Coconut oil into the inner portion of the Coconut. You must dip the Long Red chilli into the oil. Thus the two halves of Coconut looks like two big lamps.

8. Pray to the Lord Bhairavar to burn out the bad Dhiristi  (Evil Eye Syndrome) from your entire family. Light up the lamp on both the halves of the Coconut using the Long Red Chilli as the wick. Place the Coconut (both the halves) converted into two oil lamps inside the temple.

Lord Bhairavar: Please note that the Lord Shiva has assigned the security of the temple to the Lord Bhairavar. Thus, in every temples, they keep all the keys and do Pujas before the Lord Bhairavar; and close the Temple thereafter. Again they place all the keys before Lord Bhairavar in the next morning and do Pujas on the start of the next day.

The Legend is that the Lord Bhairavar would take over the security of the temple and becomes very active and aggresive in the night. The Lord Bhairavar would keep all the evil forces at bay and shows no mercy to them. Hence all the evil forces would run away from the areas, where there is a presence of Lord Bhairavar.

9. Go to the wash place inside the temple. Clean your hand, feet and face with clean water. Sprinkle the water over your head (three times) too.

10. Then do the normal Puja to the Lord Shiva and Lord Bhairavar. Take the Prasadams (given to you inside the temple) and return back to your house.

11. The good days for doing the Dhiristi Pariharam in the Lord Shiva temple is on Sundays and Mondays and also on the day that comes with Ashtama Thithi

12. This process must be repeated on a monthly basis. You can stop this process or can reduce the interval periods, once you feel relaxed and get necessary indications that your persistent problems like stagnation or slower growth or hurdles have been eliminated or reduced in a significant manner.

Days to avoid doing these Pariharams:

1.. The important condition is that these procedures must be done, when only all the members of the family are bodily clean and should not take any non-vegetarian foods on those particular days.

2. The process must not be done, when you are unclean due to sexual acts; and also during the menstrual period of the females.

3. You should not do these Dhiristi Pariharam, when any of your family members are going out of the town @ short or long travel.

4. You must not do it, if you had attended any inauspicious events on the particular day.
